FAQs

How much will this cost?

Christina’s rate is $140 for the first session and $120 for every session after that. Sarah’s rate is $60 per session. Sessions are 50-55 minutes long. We currently do not have any sliding scale spots available, but for some clients, attending bi-weekly instead of every week is appropriate and could help offset some of the cost of sessions.

Do you do online sessions?

Yes! We use the SimplePractice telehealth platform. It’s completely HIPAA-compliant and extremely user-friendly. No apps or programs to download on your computer. Just follow the link sent to your email. (There is an app if you want to join sessions from your phone, but it is still very user-friendly.)

What do the different abbreviations behind your names mean?

Christina is an LPC-S, which means Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. She has been fully licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors since 2018 and approved to supervise Associates since 2023.

Sarah is an LPC Associate, which means she has completed her Master’s degree and state licensing exam, and is overseen by a Supervisor until she has accumulated 3,000 clinical hours.

Do you take insurance?

Christina accepts most Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, and Aetna plans. Each plan is different so in order to let you know actual cost per session, please send a picture of your insurance card so we can check your specific benefits. Sarah does not currently accept any insurance.

What are your office hours?

Our office hours are by appointment only. We typically schedule between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday, and Sarah currently offers evening spots on Wednesdays. We do not see clients on the weekends. If we don’t have clients scheduled, we are typically not in the office, so walk-ins or same-day appointments are not available.

Do you offer supervision for LPC-Associates?

Yes! Christina is a licensed LPC-Supervisor and is taking on new Associates. Please use the contact form to reach out and let’s chat!

Will anyone know I’m seeing you?

Only if you want to tell them! Therapy is confidential, which means we can’t tell anyone that you are or aren’t a client. Including a spouse or parent (As long as you’re over 18, and pending a few specific circumstances). If you have specific privacy or safety concerns, please reach out and we can discuss your specific situation.

Will you prescribe me medications?

No, we do not have a medical doctor on staff. While therapy can be helpful on its own, many people benefit from medications as well. Your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist can evaluate you for medications. If you are already taking medication, we are happy to coordinate care with your doctor, as needed.

I have a question that wasn’t answered here!

We want this to be a positive, easy experience for you. Any and all questions are welcome, and we will do all we can to put you at ease. Reach out using the contact form and we are happy to answer any additional questions or concerns you have!

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimate Information

According to the new “No Surprises Act” you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance, or who are choosing to not use their insurance, an estimate of their expected charges for medical services.

You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during your treatment with them. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

When a client chooses to begin therapy with Guiding Point, cost per session is discussed up front. We settle the payment for each session at the end of that session. You will never receive a bill from us after the fact. The only other costs that could be incurred are a no-show/late cancellation fee (a flat rate of $75), or fees for letter-writing or court-related tasks or appearances (for which fees are outlined in your initial paperwork). Our clients are always involved in determining the frequency and duration of their counseling relationship with us and free to adjust or terminate services at any time they choose. Therefore, our clients should never be surprised by a charge from us. If you have further questions about this, or would like a written Good Faith Estimate, please feel free to discuss it with us at any time and/or request one.
